A distinctive Mid-Century Modern floor lamp, attributed to German production from the late 1950s to early 1960s, combining two elongated conical shades with a compact rosewood base and restrained black and chrome metalwork.
Two slender black tubular stems rise independently from the circular base, each supporting a large conical shade. The elongated shades are covered in a natural-toned textured fabric, introducing a warm, diffused quality of light while contrasting with the precise geometry of the metal structure.
The circular base is finished in richly figured rosewood veneer, with the grain providing an organic counterpoint to the black stems. A polished chrome fitting at the centre of the base completes the composition, giving this version a particularly restrained and architectural character.
The twin-shade arrangement provides both a strong sculptural presence and practical illumination, with the two light sources allowing light to be distributed across a wider area. Its relatively compact footprint makes the lamp particularly suitable beside a lounge chair, sofa, or within a reading area.
The lamp retains a period foot-operated switch and presents a characteristic combination of warm wood, textured fabric, black metal, and polished chrome associated with postwar European lighting design.
