The BO98 Chair was designed by Finn Juhl in the 1950s and produced by Bovirke in Denmark. The chair is defined by its sculpted solid teak frame and open composition, where the upholstered seat and back are held within the structure. The curved armrests and tapered elements reflect Juhl’s early exploration of organic form and spatial separation.

The chair is proportioned for relaxed seating, with a slightly reclined back and a low seat height. The open sides and lifted seat create a sense of lightness, while the wide stance provides stability. The design allows the upholstered elements to read as independent volumes within the frame.

The chair remains in excellent condition, with well-preserved original blue wool upholstery and a clean teak frame. The structure is sound, and the surfaces show only minimal wear consistent with age.

An early and well-resolved example of Finn Juhl’s work, where structure and upholstery are treated as distinct but integrated elements.
