A rare 1950s first-production FD135 “Boomerang” chair by Peter Hvidt for France & Daverkosen, and one of the most refined early expressions of Danish modern lounge seating.

The sculptural teak frame is defined by its softly arcing boomerang profile, floating seat, and beautifully resolved proportions. Rather than a rigid back, this early production example features its original sprung loop coil construction, an advanced and seldom-seen detail that provides exceptional comfort and a subtle, responsive flex when seated. It’s a thoughtful engineering solution that perfectly balances structure and ease, and one of the reasons these chairs feel so good to live with.

The chair retains its original brass-plated legs, now richly patinated from decades of careful use, lending warmth and authenticity that only time can produce. Meticulously maintained throughout its lifetime, this piece has been freshly cleaned and polished by our team and newly upholstered in top-quality Hallingdal wool by Kvadrat, widely regarded as one of the finest and most durable upholstery textiles ever made.

Elegant without being precious and architectural yet deeply inviting, this first-production Boomerang chair is a benchmark example of Peter Hvidt’s mastery and a highly collectable piece of Danish design history that remains effortlessly relevant today.
