This flip top dining table was designed by Borge Mogensen and produced by Soborg Mobelfabrik in Denmark during the 1950s. It is crafted in teak, with a compact rectangular form that expands through a hinged top. The construction is defined by its clarity, with clean lines and well-balanced proportions.
The table features a fold-over top supported by solid brass hinges and locking hardware. When closed, the piece functions as a compact surface; when opened, it extends to accommodate additional seating, comfortably serving up to four. The mechanism is simple and precise, reflecting a practical approach to flexible dining.
The table is in good vintage condition. The closed top has been refinished and shows light surface wear. When opened, the interior surface presents visible scratches, some burn marks, and areas of discoloration consistent with use. The apron shows minor chips near the leg connections. The structure remains solid, and all mechanisms function as intended.
A practical and well-resolved example of Danish design, where adaptability and material are handled with restraint.
