Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1952 and produced by Fritz Hansen in Denmark, the Heart Dining Set remains one of the most celebrated achievements of Scandinavian modern design. Composed of the FH4602 dining table and six FH4103 Heart chairs, the set demonstrates Wegner’s exceptional ability to resolve engineering, ergonomics, and sculptural form into a remarkably compact and elegant composition.

This complete set includes six FH4103 Heart chairs arranged around the original FH4602 dining table. Designed as a unified composition, the circular 120 cm table accommodates six people within an exceptionally compact footprint while maintaining generous comfort and circulation.
Wegner achieved this through one of his most inventive structural solutions: the elimination of the traditional fourth chair leg. The resulting three-legged chair introduces a subtly triangular seat profile, while the curved laminated backrest creates the stylized heart-shaped silhouette that gave the series its name. More importantly, the geometry allows all six chairs to nest precisely beneath the table without visual or physical conflict, transforming the closed arrangement into a continuous sculptural composition.
The design reflects broader postwar Danish priorities, where growing urban density encouraged furniture that could maximize utility without compromising elegance. Rather than treating compact living as a limitation, Wegner transformed efficiency into an opportunity for refinement and beauty.
Executed in teak, the set displays the warmth, depth, and natural variation that define the best examples of Danish cabinetmaking. The set remains in excellent vintage condition. The surfaces are clean and well preserved throughout, with strong grain definition and beautifully maintained proportions. All chairs sit properly and the table remains solid and stable.
