This side table, model 3361, was designed by T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings in 1957, produced by the John Widdicomb Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The piece reflects Robsjohn-Gibbings’ disciplined approach to form, where classical proportion is reinterpreted through modern construction. Crafted in solid walnut, the table presents a compact and balanced profile.
The design is defined by its sculptural frame and “floating” top. The tabletop is visually separated from the supporting structure, creating a sense of lightness while maintaining stability. The legs and stretchers are carefully proportioned, with subtle transitions that emphasize the natural character of the walnut.
The table presents in excellent vintage condition. The structure is solid, with well-preserved surfaces and a consistent finish. Minor wear is present in line with age and careful use. A refined occasional table where structure and proportion are resolved with clarity and restraint.
