This Balloon Chair pair was designed by Hans Olsen and produced by Lea Design in Denmark during the 1960s. The structure is defined by a circular steel frame, where a suspended leather seat is tensioned across the ring. The composition is minimal and direct, with the geometry of the frame clearly expressing both structure and function.

The seats are formed from single pieces of mustard-toned leather, creating continuous surfaces that adapt to the body. This construction eliminates the need for internal padding, allowing the material itself to provide support. The steel frames are finished in black, creating a clear contrast with the warmth of the leather.

The chairs are foldable, with a simple and efficient mechanism that allows the frames to collapse for storage or transport. Despite their light construction, the structures remain stable in use, with the circular frames distributing weight evenly.

Both chairs are in very good vintage condition. The steel frames are solid, with light wear consistent with age. The leather shows a natural patina, with a soft surface and even tone. This listing is for the pair.

A distinct example of Danish experimental design, where structure and material define the seating experience.
