1960s Brazilian Rosewood and Leather Sofa by Jean Gillon
1960s Brazilian Rosewood and Leather Sofa by Jean Gillon
At last, we are pleased to announce the readiness of a most cherished sofa discovery. This exquisitely crafted piece, designed by Jean Gillon for Wood Art, hails from Brazil in the 1960s. Notably, it showcases long, solid Brazilian rosewood timbers featuring through tenons that elegantly mount to the leg/arm structures using tusk wedges. Furthermore, the leather strapping is artfully embellished with delicate rosewood "buttons" which serve as securing elements.
Meticulously attended to by our dedicated team, this sofa underwent a careful restoration process. In line with our commitment to preserving its authenticity, the decision was made to retain the original leather cushions, honoring the piece's heritage. Exuding a remarkable comfort and embodying the alluring ambiance of Brazilian mid-century style, this sofa stands as a testament to timeless sophistication.
