Produced in Canada during the 1960s, this bow floor lamp reflects the strong influence of Scandinavian design that shaped much of Canadian modern furniture and lighting during the postwar period. Constructed in teak, the lamp is defined by its sweeping arched stem, which recalls the form of a drawn bow and creates a striking architectural silhouette.
The structure is supported by two splayed legs that provide stability while maintaining a light visual presence. A wrapped cord detail at the center introduces texture and craftsmanship, reinforcing the sculptural quality of the design. The lamp demonstrates the careful balance between organic form and functional simplicity that characterized mid-century Scandinavian-inspired design.
The bonnet-shaped shade is upholstered in a beautifully textured woven fabric with visible natural slubs that complement the warmth of the teak. The open weave softly diffuses the light while adding subtle depth and visual interest to the lamp’s clean silhouette. Original brass hardware above the shade allows the angle to be adjusted through a simple butterfly nut mechanism, providing flexibility while preserving the lamp’s understated design.
The lamp has been wired for North American electrical standards and operates through an inline cord switch. It accepts standard-base incandescent, LED, or CFL bulbs. The teak frame is well preserved with a warm natural patina, and the lamp remains in excellent vintage condition.
