A well-proportioned 1960s Norwegian freestanding shelving system by Fredrick Kayser, defined by its architectural clarity, modular flexibility, and disciplined Scandinavian modern language. The design balances storage capacity with visual lightness, presenting a clean vertical structure that functions equally well as a room divider or wall-mounted composition.
Crafted in teak, the system emphasizes material warmth and precise cabinetmaking throughout. The composition includes a lower storage module with two drawers featuring sculpted recessed pulls carved directly into the wood, paired with open shelving above. The upper module incorporates a single-door cabinet with internal shelving, divisions, and three small drawers, offering a highly organized storage solution.
The construction reflects a thoughtful modular logic. Shelf heights and module positions can be adjusted, allowing the system to respond to changing functional needs while maintaining visual coherence. The base includes a recessed clearance detail designed to accommodate baseboards, allowing the unit to sit properly against the wall. Assembly is straightforward, and the configuration can be customized to suit different spatial requirements.
The piece remains in excellent condition, structurally sound and well preserved, with a clean and consistent presentation throughout.
