The Jupiter chair (Model 218) was designed by Finn Juhl in 1965 and produced by France and Son in Denmark. The design is defined by its solid teak frame and suspended upholstered body, where the seat and back appear visually separated from the structure. This approach reflects Juhl’s characteristic exploration of form and negative space.
The chair combines sculpted wooden elements with a fully upholstered seat and back in black leather. The proportions are generous, with a slightly reclined posture that supports a relaxed seating position. The open frame and lifted seat create a sense of lightness despite the substantial construction.
