Produced by Jydsk Møbelindustri in Denmark during the 1960s, this compact teak sideboard reflects the functional approach and restrained craftsmanship associated with Scandinavian Modern furniture of the period.
Originally part of a larger cabinet configuration with an upper display unit, the sideboard is now presented as a freestanding piece. Its compact proportions, sliding doors, and carefully integrated wooden details make it particularly versatile for contemporary interiors.
The cabinet is distinguished by its recessed rectangular wooden pulls, each shaped with two opposing curved finger recesses. These sculpted details provide a comfortable grip while preserving the uninterrupted surface of the teak sliding doors. The natural grain of the wood contributes warmth and subtle variation across the front.
The rectangular cabinet rests on a recessed base with slender tapered wooden legs, creating a sense of visual lightness beneath the storage compartment. The slightly projecting top and carefully proportioned edges further define its architectural silhouette.
Behind the sliding doors, the interior offers a practical combination of open shelving and drawer storage. An adjustable shelf provides flexibility for books, tableware, or other household objects, while the shallow upper drawer offers additional organization for smaller items.
Measuring approximately 59 inches wide, the sideboard is particularly versatile for spaces where a full-length credenza would be impractical. Its proportions make it suitable for use as a dining room sideboard, living room cabinet, or media console.
The cabinet retains its warm teak finish and presents vintage wear consistent with age and use, including minor surface marks and wear to the interior shelving. Please refer to the photographs for a detailed view of its condition.
