This table lamp was designed by Lotte and Gunnar Bostlund and produced in Canada during the 1960s. It is defined by its tall cylindrical ceramic base, finished with hand-painted geometric patterns over a series of earthy tonal bands. The form is simple and vertical, allowing the surface decoration to define its presence.

The piece reflects an important moment in Canadian mid-century design, where Scandinavian principles were adapted through a more expressive use of material. As Danish immigrants, the Bostlunds introduced a restrained approach to form, combined here with a more graphic and tactile ceramic surface. The result is a balanced composition, where structure remains minimal and the material carries the visual weight.

The lamp retains its original jute shade, which diffuses the light and introduces a soft, textured quality. This combination of ceramic and woven fiber creates a warm and controlled light, reinforcing the relationship between object and atmosphere.

The lamp is in very good vintage condition. The ceramic surface is clean, with well-preserved painted details. The shade remains intact, showing light wear consistent with age while maintaining its structure and function.

A strong example of Canadian modern design, where material, light, and surface are resolved through clarity and restraint.
