Designed by Johannes Andersen and produced by Uldum Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1960s, the Model 19 credenza is one of the more substantial and sculptural storage pieces associated with Danish modern cabinetmaking. The design is defined by its long horizontal proportions, tambour door system, and carefully shaped teak details.
Executed in teak, the credenza displays warm tone and continuous grain across the front and top surfaces. The façade is organized around sliding tambour doors that move smoothly into the body of the cabinet, allowing full access without requiring outward door clearance. Integrated sculpted pulls and softly profiled front edges give the piece the organic character often associated with Johannes Andersen’s work.
The interior offers generous and flexible storage. Behind the doors are compartments with removable and adjustable shelving, along with shallow dovetailed drawers suitable for cutlery, linens, documents, or smaller objects. Its scale makes the piece suitable as a dining room buffet, media console, or substantial storage cabinet in a living space.
The credenza remains in excellent vintage condition. The structure is solid, the tambour doors operate smoothly, and the teak surfaces are well preserved. The recessed base and long tapered legs provide stability while maintaining the light visual profile characteristic of the period.
A considered example of Danish modern storage design, where scale, craftsmanship, and utility are resolved through careful proportion and material clarity.
