This planter table was designed by Kai Kristiansen and produced by Salin Mobler in Denmark in the 1960s. The piece combines a solid wood structure with an integrated planter compartment, typically lined in galvanized metal or zinc.
The design is defined by its compact proportions and clear construction. The wooden frame supports a recessed planter, creating a balanced relationship between functional surface and contained volume. The grain of the wood adds depth while maintaining a restrained and structured appearance.
The table can function as a side table or accent piece, with the integrated planter allowing for greenery within a seating environment. Its scale makes it adaptable to a range of interiors.
The piece remains in very good vintage condition. The wood surface is well preserved, and the interior liner shows light wear consistent with use.
A considered example of Danish modern design that integrates function and material with clarity.
