Designed by Rolf Hesland during the 1960s for Bruksbo Tegnekontor, this compact record caddy combines storage and mobility in a particularly efficient example of Norwegian modern design. The piece was manufactured by Bagn Møbelindustri in Valdres, Norway, and retains its original manufacturer’s label.
The rectangular wooden body is divided internally into vertical compartments proportioned for storing 12-inch LP records, while also functioning effectively for magazines, books, or other printed material. A cylindrical wooden bar spans the upper section of the caddy, providing an integrated handle without interrupting its simple geometric form.
Four chrome ball casters elevate the cabinet slightly from the floor and allow it to be moved easily, an especially practical feature when loaded with records. The contrast between the warm wood surfaces, darker internal dividers, and polished metal casters gives the small piece a distinctly architectural character.
Its compact scale makes the design useful beyond record storage: it can serve as a mobile magazine rack, book caddy, or organizer beside a lounge chair, sofa, or audio system.
