A 1960s roll-top secretary desk designed by Egon Ostergaard and produced by Markaryds Mobelindustri in Sweden. The piece is constructed in rosewood, with a continuous grain that wraps across the roll door and drawer fronts. The cylindrical roll-top slides smoothly to reveal a fitted interior, maintaining a clean exterior when closed.
The interior is organized with small drawers, open compartments, and a pull-out writing surface that extends to create a functional workspace. Below, three larger drawers provide additional storage, each fitted with integrated wooden pulls that align with the overall restraint of the design. The desk is raised on tapered legs, giving the form a light and balanced presence.
The piece is in excellent condition, with well-preserved rosewood surfaces and smooth operation of the roll door and drawers. The interior is clean and fully functional. A compact and well-resolved example of Swedish mid-century design, combining practical storage with a clear and refined form.
