Produced by Italiana Luce in Italy during the 1960s, this rare floor lamp is a striking example of postwar Italian lighting design, combining a remarkably minimal structure with a dramatic sculptural presence.
The lamp is defined by a slender enameled steel rod that rises from the compact base in a continuous sweeping arc. Positioned asymmetrically, the structure creates an elegant sense of movement while maintaining an exceptionally light visual presence. Its restrained construction allows the curved profile itself to become the primary decorative element.
The original fabric shade wraps around the slender frame, softening the architectural character of the metal structure and creating a warm, diffused light. The shade can be adjusted vertically along the frame, allowing the height and position of the light source to be adapted for reading, ambient lighting, or accent illumination.
The lamp retains its original foot switch, and the Italiana Luce maker's mark is stamped on the base, confirming its Italian manufacture. These original details are particularly important to the character and collectability of the piece.
The lamp remains in excellent vintage condition, preserving its original shade and components with only minor signs of age consistent with careful use.
With its unusually tall proportions, sweeping silhouette, and minimal material palette, this floor lamp is a refined example of the experimental approach to form and function that distinguished Italian lighting during the postwar period.
