Designed by Knut Sæter and produced by Vatne Møbler in Norway during the 1960s, this three-seat sofa reflects the material quality and restrained proportions associated with Norwegian modern furniture of the period. The design combines a solid rosewood frame with loose upholstered cushions, creating a clear balance between structure, comfort, and visual lightness.
The exposed rosewood frame is one of the defining features of the piece. The arms are shaped with a subtle sculptural curve, while the straight legs lift the sofa lightly from the floor. The deep tone and expressive grain of the rosewood give the frame a strong material presence without overwhelming the simple geometry of the design.
The sofa is fitted with loose seat and back cushions upholstered in a light botanical-patterned fabric. The cushions provide a comfortable sit and maintain the relaxed character of the original design. Reupholstery can also be arranged for an additional cost, with several fabric and leather options available. Please contact us for more details.
The sofa remains in good vintage condition. The rosewood frame is solid and well preserved, and the cushions present well overall. The scale works well for living rooms, offices, or lounge spaces where a substantial but visually refined three-seat sofa is needed.
A thoughtful example of Norwegian modern seating, where craftsmanship, proportion, and material character are resolved in a practical and elegant form.
