Designed by Luis Pérez de la Oliva and produced by Fase in Madrid during the 1960s and 1970s, the Boomerang 2000 is one of the most recognizable lighting designs of the Space Age era. The lamp is defined by its distinctive cast aluminum arm, whose sweeping curved profile gives the model its name and creates a strong architectural presence even when not illuminated.
This example combines a black lacquered shade and base with a silver-grey aluminum arm. The large disc-shaped shade is mounted on an adjustable joint, allowing light to be directed precisely where needed. The heavy cast base rotates independently, providing additional flexibility and demonstrating the sophisticated engineering that made Fase lighting internationally admired.
The design reflects the optimism and technological ambition of the period while remaining highly functional. Its sculptural form has made it a favorite among collectors of Space Age and Mid-Century Modern design, and Fase lamps continue to appear in film, television, and design publications devoted to the era.
The lamp remains in good vintage condition and retains its original character. Please note that the original frosted glass diffuser is no longer present. The lamp was originally designed with a circular diffuser mounted beneath the shade to conceal the bulbs and soften the light output. Aside from the missing diffuser, the lamp presents well and remains fully functional.
A thoughtful example of Spanish Space Age design, where engineering, movement, and sculptural form are brought together in a highly distinctive object.
