This Diplomat chair was designed by Finn Juhl and produced by Cado in Denmark during the 1970s. The design reflects Juhl’s careful attention to proportion, where structure and comfort are resolved through a clear and balanced composition.
The frame is crafted in rosewood, with pronounced grain and a deeper tonal variation that emphasizes the sculpted quality of the arms and legs. The structure remains light in appearance, with slender supports and a defined separation between frame and seating elements.
The seat and back are upholstered in black leather, creating a strong contrast with the richness of the rosewood. This combination highlights the geometry of the frame while maintaining a calm and grounded presence.
The chair is in excellent condition. The frame is structurally sound, with clean surfaces and well-preserved finish. The leather remains in very good condition, and the manufacturer’s emblem is present on the underside. A measured and material-focused design, where contrast and proportion define the overall composition.
