Produced by Selenova in Italy during the 1970s, this table lamp reflects the experimental spirit of the Space Age design movement. Combining geometric forms with reflective materials, the lamp functions equally as a source of illumination and as a sculptural object.
The design is centered around a large frosted glass globe resting on a polished chrome base. Within the globe, a composition of chrome and copper cylinders surrounds the light source, creating a layered architectural structure. When illuminated, light reflects through the metallic elements and diffuses through the glass, producing a soft and atmospheric glow.
The mirrored chrome base incorporates an integrated switch and provides a visual counterpoint to the translucent globe above. The combination of glass, chrome, and copper is characteristic of the period’s fascination with technology, futurism, and modular forms.
The lamp remains in excellent vintage condition. The glass globe is free from cracks or significant damage, and the chrome surfaces retain a strong original luster. The lamp has been tested and is ready for use.
A thoughtful example of Italian Space Age lighting, where geometry, material, and light are brought together in a highly distinctive form.
