The MP-129 lounge chair was designed by Percival Lafer in the 1970s and produced in Brazil. The design is built around a structured hardwood frame, with a clear expression of its construction. The proportions are wide and low, with a deep seat and a strong horizontal emphasis.
The seating system is supported by leather straps, holding the cushions in place while allowing for flexibility and comfort. The chair is designed for extended use, with a relaxed seating angle and generous depth. The exposed frame and suspended cushions create a balanced relationship between structure and upholstery.
This example has been fully restored. The chair features new leather upholstery in a natural hide, along with new leather support straps throughout. The frame has been cleaned, conditioned, and professionally serviced.
The chair is in excellent restored condition. The structure is sound, with tight joinery and well-maintained surfaces. Minor wear to the wood is consistent with age and careful use.
A clear example of Percival Lafer’s approach, where structure, material, and comfort are resolved in a direct and functional way.
