A 1970s MP-81 lounge chair and ottoman designed by Percival Lafer and produced by Lafer MP in Brazil. Two chairs available.
The chair features a solid jatoba frame with cylindrical legs supporting a suspended leather cushion system. The generously padded seat, back, and arms are upholstered in caramel leather and secured to the structure with leather straps, allowing the cushions to sit softly within the wooden frame.
A cylindrical headrest completes the composition and provides additional comfort while reinforcing the relaxed proportions of the design. The accompanying ottoman follows the same construction, with a tufted leather cushion suspended between solid rosewood legs.
Percival Lafer’s furniture is known for its balance between sculptural structure and soft upholstery. The MP-81 model reflects this approach with a clear expression of materials and a comfortable, informal character.
A thoughtful example of Brazilian modern design that combines comfort with strong material presence. Both the chair and ottoman remain in excellent condition. The leather shows a rich patina and the rosewood frame is well preserved.
