A Pianura lounge chair designed by Mario Bellini in 1971 and produced by Cassina in Italy.
The chair is defined by its low, wide proportions and grounded presence. Generous upholstered volumes are framed by integrated Italian walnut tray arms and a slatted wood back, creating a clear relationship between soft seating and structural elements.
The wood components introduce rhythm and warmth, while the deep cushions support a relaxed and stable seating posture. The construction is consistent with Bellini’s modular approach, where each element maintains autonomy while contributing to a larger system.
As an individual piece, the chair functions well on its own, while still being designed to integrate seamlessly within the Pianura modular configuration.
The chair remains in excellent vintage condition. The upholstery presents well, and the walnut elements show consistent tone and grain. A Cassina manufacturer label is present.
A matching chair is also available. This piece is part of the Pianura modular system, and we also have a three-seat sofa, a rectangular coffee table, and a square table that can function as an ottoman base available—please see our other listings.
A measured and adaptable seating design defined by clarity of form and material.
