Designed by Percival Lafer in 1973 and produced in Brazil, the MP 115 lounge chair reflects Lafer’s distinctive approach to comfort, exposed structure, and industrialized craft. The chair is defined by its generous upholstered volumes, low seating position, and visible side construction, where wood, leather straps, and metal hardware become part of the design language.

The chair is constructed around two independent upholstered forms: the seat and the backrest. These volumes are held together by the exposed external frame, giving the chair a clear modular quality while preserving a relaxed, deeply comfortable profile. The side elements combine solid Brazilian hardwood, leather straps, and visible fasteners, expressing the engineering of the piece rather than concealing it.

This example is upholstered in tan leather with a soft, naturally creased surface that emphasizes the broad cushion forms. The straight-sided profile allows multiple MP 115 chairs to be placed side by side, forming a continuous sofa-like arrangement without rigid separating arms.

The chair remains in good vintage condition. The leather presents with age-appropriate patina and surface character, while the external frame remains solid and structurally sound.

A considered example of Brazilian modern design, where comfort, modularity, and exposed construction are resolved through a direct and highly recognizable form.
