Produced by Bitossi Ceramiche in Italy during the 1960s or 1970s, this table lamp exemplifies the rich materiality and sculptural character that made Italian ceramic lighting so influential during the mid-century period. The cylindrical ceramic body is finished in a deep glossy brown glaze and decorated with a textured pattern of concentric circles, a motif closely associated with the work of Aldo Londi and the Bitossi workshop.
The lamp balances geometric simplicity with surface complexity. The rich glaze and tactile decoration create visual depth, while the cylindrical form maintains a clean architectural presence. The newly fitted spun linen shade introduces a lighter element, complementing the ceramic base while diffusing light softly throughout the room.
This example remains in very good vintage condition. The ceramic body presents well overall, retaining its original glaze and decorative detailing. A small chip is present near the socket at the upper edge of the ceramic body. The imperfection is minor, does not affect functionality, and is largely concealed when the shade is installed.
A thoughtful example of Italian mid-century ceramic design, where craftsmanship, texture, and material expression take precedence over ornament.
