The 44 Chair was designed by Finn Juhl in 1944 and originally produced in a very limited number by cabinetmaker Niels Vodder, with approximately 12 examples made. This example is part of the 2012 re-edition by Onecollection (House of Finn Juhl), produced as a numbered series of 100 pieces to mark the centenary of Juhl’s birth. This chair is numbered 6 of 100.
The design is defined by its sculptural frame, where each element is shaped with a continuous, organic logic. The chair is constructed in solid wenge, with a dark grain that emphasizes the curvature of the structure. The seat is upholstered in natural leather, set within the frame rather than resting on it, reinforcing the visual separation between structure and body.
The proportions are compact, with a slightly reclined posture suited to occasional seating. The chair is in excellent condition, with clean surfaces and a well-preserved structure. The materials show minimal wear consistent with careful use.
A considered re-edition of one of Finn Juhl’s early designs, where form and construction are resolved as a single gesture.
