Original AP27 “Mama Bear” lounge chair designed by Hans Wegner, produced by AP Stolen in the late 1950s to early 1960s. A defining example of Wegner’s upholstered work, combining sculptural form with a relaxed, human scale.
The chair features sculpted teak armrests, oak legs, and a fully upholstered body with characteristic winged backrest. Newly upholstered in high-quality Danish wool, executed with clean lines and correct proportions that respect the original silhouette.
The frame presents well, with solid joinery and a stable stance. Comfort is generous and supportive, consistent with the model’s reputation as a long-duration lounge chair rather than a formal seat.
A well-resolved and honest example of one of Wegner’s most recognizable designs, suitable for daily use while retaining its architectural presence.
Freshly cleaned and detailed.
