This coffee table was designed by Poul Cadovius and produced by France and Son in Denmark in the 1960s.
The design is centered on the parquetry rosewood top, composed of carefully arranged veneer sections that create a rhythmic geometric surface. The variation in grain direction gives depth to the composition while maintaining a clear and ordered structure.
The base is defined by solid wood legs with finger-jointed connections, expressing both strength and craftsmanship. The legs can be disassembled, allowing for flat pack transport while maintaining structural integrity when assembled.
The proportions are low and elongated, making the table suitable for a range of seating arrangements. It works well as a central piece in a living room, with a balanced relationship between surface area and height.
The table is in very good original condition. The top shows minimal wear, with a well-preserved surface. The structure is solid and stable. The manufacturer’s emblem is stamped into the underside of the table.
Another square table from the same series is also available. A matching set of two-seater and three-seater sofas from this line is available as well.
A clear example of Cadovius’ approach to modular living and material expression.
